Fantasy is the 15th studio album by Filipino singer Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. The two-disc album contains both pop and mid-tempo sounds, as well as some softer and more contemporary melodies. The first disc contains new Original Pilipino Music (OPM) materials while the second disc contains cover songs from various artists.
There is plenty to like about the first season of ABC’s prime-time drama Nashville. The centerpiece, of course, is music. Actors Connie Britton (Rayna James), Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes), Charles Esten (Deacon Clayborne), Clare Bowen (Scarlett O’Connor), Sam Palladino (Gunnar), and others actually perform the songs in the series backed by a host of ace studio players. T Bone Burnett is Nashville’s music producer, and he’s enlisted some of Music City’s finest songwriters and the help of longtime friend Buddy Miller to co-produce (and perform on) most of the songs here.
Finally having conquered her stage fright and tired of critics suggesting she could not actually sing and that her high notes were synthesized creations in the studio, Carey booked an appearance on the television show MTV Unplugged. The arrangements of the songs were different from the versions created in the studio, because MTV Unplugged involved the use of acoustic instruments only. Carey’s whistle register workout on the opening number, “Emotions”, brought cheers from the audience and convinced any skeptics that her vocal abilities were real. After the program aired, Carey’s cover version of The Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” (1970), performed as a duet with backing singer Trey Lorenz, was released as a single due to high demand and topped the U.S. charts.
