The real story of the notorious Queens, NY crime syndicate known as the Supreme Team, as told by its two leaders, Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff and Gerald “Prince” Miller. Through the voices of these two infamous entrepreneurs as well as hip hop legend LL Cool J, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, journalist Joy Reid, singer Ashanti, producer Irv Gotti and others in the local community, viewers are given access beyond the headlines to examine the broader cultural dynamics and the impact that this small group had on hip hop and society at large.
Season 1, Episode 01 – “The Foundation”
Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff and Gerald “Prince” Miller grew up in the middle-class section of South Jamaica, Queens. But a traumatic childhood experience and newfound role models would pave the way for the forming of the Supreme Team.
Season 1, Episode 02 – “War & Peace”
The Supreme Team was on top of the world: heroes to the burgeoning hip hop community while making money hand over fist as the crack epidemic swept the country. But an NYPD officer’s murder in South Jamaica got the attention of Mayor Giuliani and President Bush. The heavy hand of the law came down hard and fast on the Supreme Team and drug dealers not just in New York but across the country, changing the face of policing as we know it today.
Season 1, Episode 03 – “Truth & Consequences”
An opportunity to rebrand himself as movie and music producer in the early 2000s gives Supreme a chance to go legit. While in prison, Prince is able to effectively reflect on his past choices, and plan for his future as a re-assessment of unjust crack sentencing provides a glimmer of hope for Prince’s release from prison. Series finale.
