Public TV’s Broadcast from 1987 – It Was Twenty Years Ago Today (1987) is a look at the Beatles’ classic album, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, and the broader cultural scene during the year of the record’s release, 1967. The documentary aired in 1987 on PBS to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the vinyl album release and was connected to a book the Beatles press officer, Derek Taylor, had written. The film features interviews with George Harrison, Paul McCartney, George Martin, Allen Ginsberg and more.
