Fierce sees BAFTA Award winning TV naturalist Steve Backshall seeking out the world’s most fierce animals in this brand-new commission for ITV, his first for the broadcaster. The series takes Steve on six epic adventures to Guyana, Mexico, Namibia, Indonesia, Australia and South Africa, where along the way he encounters the world’s most venomous snake, the Inland Taipan, gets perilously close to the largest carnivorous reptile in South America, the giant Black Caiman, attempts to track down the endangered Giant River Otter and stakes out the feisty and fearless Honey Badger. As well as going eye-to-eye with American Crocodiles, swimming amongst Bull Sharks and narrowly escaping the jaws of the extraordinary Komodo Dragon, Steve also meets the people living cheek by jowl with these dangerous predators and those who have miraculously survived being attacked by them.

Episode 1
New series. Naturalist Steve Backshall seeks out the world’s most fierce animals, and in the first episode travels to the wild islands of Indonesia where he has a close call with a komodo dragon. He also rescues a three metre venomous king cobra, goes diving in the treacherous seas that surround the islands, and gets to grips with the planet’s most poisonous fish.

Episode 2
Steve Backshall continues the series in which he goes in search of the fiercest animals on the planet, taking a trip into the rainforests of Guyana. Steve has a close call with a giant Black Caiman, which grows up to five metres in length. On the Mapari river, he swims alongside deadly electric eels capable of delivering a 650-volt shock. He meets a huge Bullet Ant, so-called because its sting is said to feel like being shot, and gets close to the unpredictable bird-eating tarantula. Finally, he gets a rare sighting of the endangered giant river otter, a fearless pack hunter that eats piranha for breakfast and can devour an entire caiman

Episode 3
Wildlife series with expert Steve Backshall, who goes in search of the fiercest animals on the planet. In Mexico he handles a six-foot-long rattlesnake and goes swimming with two crocodiles. He runs into trouble at sea when his diving equipment fails while he is diving to a depth of 75 feet to find bull sharks

Episode 4
Wildlife expert Steve Backshall visits Queensland as he continues the series in which he goes in search of the fiercest animals on the planet. Steve tracks down the Irukandji, the smallest but the most venomous box jelly fish in the world, with a sting that can be fatal. He gets hands-on with a stingray, a fish with a fearsome reputation but which rarely poses a threat to humans. He also encounters the cassowary, a giant flightless bird with a lethal kick, scours the rainforest for two spiders with extraordinary hunting techniques, and goes in search of the country’s largest venomous snake, the elusive Coastal Taipan,

Episode 5
Wildlife series with expert Steve Backshall, who goes in search of the fiercest animals on the planet. In this episode, Steve explores the wildlife and stunning landscapes of Namibia. He tracks two hungry cheetahs as they hunt in the bush, stakes out a carcass to get up close to some vultures, and has a close call with an agitated lion as he helps a vet at work.

Episode 6
Steve Backshall breathes a sigh of relief as he concludes the wildlife series in which he goes in search of the fiercest animals on the planet. Steve loses himself in the vast nature reserves of South Africa. He goes in search of a pack of rare and endangered African wild dogs, and helps to capture and tag a magnificent martial eagle. He gets dangerously close to a venomous spitting cobra and a puff adder as they strike and risks life and limb to kayak up close to Africa’s most dangerous mammal, the highly unpredictable hippopotamus. Although these creatures seem placid, they are easily frightened and extremely aggressive.
