I have had success in the past with these but this one (Premier) doesnt seem to be working. If I install and patch, it wont run without an online update. If I apply the r14 patch the program never opens. Any advice?

Not that anyone asked, maybe someone will also have this problem… I installed the Premier version w/ R8 update per instructions, DON’T FORGET to download the Patch common to Deluxe and Premier with R14 update, copy the patch file AFTER doing on-line update before running TurboTax for the first time otherwise it won’t come up. It won’t do anything without the right patch copied for the version you’re running.

Also make sure that you disable the automatic update.

FYI …….. if you look up the 2019 TurboTax download from last year that is still on this website there is a downloadable self crack. That self crack executable and instructions and will work on this 2020 version (so far). You may or may not have to alter the lines that are to be deleted in the dll file as it instructs you but it has worked for me. Search ‘Intuit TurboTax’ at the top of this page and it will display all past versions.

If you look up the official manual executable R15.1 update on the TurboTax website and download/install it, you can use that ‘dnSpy-net472’ self crack as I have described above. You install the 2020 version but only use that self crack from the 2019 download. Trash the 2019 TT program as it was last year!

OMG……you guys are unreal. found the self-extract file – installed Premiere and let it upgrade online. Shut it down, and ran the dnspy…..following instructions above (line 13-30 to false). TT opened like a dream. TYTYTY.

CDN version personal tax – i tried to save PDF file it gives “Purchase More Returns” error?? It seems to be related to income over $25K?? Am i doing something wrong?

Guys self crack works, sometimes replacing self crack won’t work, so I suggest doing this.

– Restart compute
– Kill ANY intuit processes from task manager
– Open dnspy as ADMIN
– Open DLL, make sure isProductActivated returns false
– Save Module (so that it will replace in-line)

Voila!

@RA – i am talking about the Canadian version…
the crack works, which by-passes the activation screen and once you are in TT, you can fill out the forms, but if income is over $25K it says “Purchase more returns” when i go to the counter, i have 20 returns available and 0 used.

Yes, it has been updated since I first tried and none of the versions have worked following the directions. once I edit and TT opens to error page, if i don’t edit it ask for activation code. My file prior to edit is also false, true, true not true, true, true issue has to be something related to that. Cant figure it out everything worked great in 2019 TT following same instructions

Can someone please share the US version of TurboTax Business 2020? Corporate returns are due soon, much appreciated!

The followings are my observations on the US 2020 versions of Turbotax. Correct me if I am wrong and please share what you know. Thanks.
1) There are only 3 versions floating around, Deluxe, Premium, Home and Business.
2) The latest complete release is R8, which you can find the update file and the patch (.dll)
3) The the latest patch file I have seen is R16. The current download version is R19. I don’t know what is the current online version. The 2 are not necessary synchronized.
4) The patch file is useful when you have the corresponding update file or when it is for the current online version. When you are doing a online update, you can get the State return or the update. After that, you apply the patch to bypass the activation screen. You will not be able to get or update the State return any other way.
5) I don’t know how the find out the current revision number that is running. Anyone know how to do that?
5) I have tried the “self patching” and it did not work for me.
6) Hopefully, this will answer the questions on why the patch did not work.

Turbotax , Canadian version does not work

It works:

Install the version you’d like to use first then then run TT and let it update. Once its done and asks you to activate, close the window and follow the instructions below.

Now download the 2019 TT self crack executable and instructions from here and follow the instructions until you get to the line that tells you to delete lines 13-30. Do not delete. Just change the three “true” texts to “false” in that section. Then follow the rest of the instructions and now start TT and it will work.

In order to replace the true with false do this:

follow the instructions from the file that comes with the dnspy, and pay attention to click right on the word “bool” as in the instructions.

Look at my post 73, item #4. That is how you can get state return. You have to have the current Turbotax running. Start a return and download the state. The current patch is R20 released on 3/4/21. That patch will be good for a little while. Btw,, the same patch is good for any version of Turbotax, i.e. Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business.

Thanks timH & test. But you guys are referring to US TT, which, I believe is not the same patch as Canadian TT (personal ed). I tried everything, but no success.

It does work using dsnspy. Just make sure you use Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.dll of 2020. I made a mistake editing the 2019! somehow it’s still there!

Also, for me one already false, I changed the other two from true to false. And it works.

I was modifying 2020 TT .dill file but self crack didn’t work. I did still have 2019 TT installed after deleting 2019 everything worked as expected with self crack. Anyone having issues with self crack not working it seems if you have 2019 TT still installed it must be deleted then you should be good.

TurboTax just updated to R20.

This worked for me w/ R8:
– Start TurboTax 2020 app. DO NOT UPDATE.

– In Task Manager (Windows) find IntuitUpdate service. Right click “STOP service”. You might have to do this 2 or 3 times.

– Go back to TurboTax 2020 app, and you will notice it skipped the update screen.

– Go to TurboTax / Online menu / Updater Preferences and select “do not go online for updates”

Turbo Tax Canadian. Not working! After finishing the tax assessment and trying to efile it, I get a message saying 20 Returns already used and I am unable to efile. Any suggestions ?

Appreciate the software being loaded but… no matter what I do… it always wants an installation code.

I install the software… run the update (not in the installation directly yet)… copy the crack file into the installation directly. I’ve run the program before and after moving the crack file.

SteveK50, read my earlier posts on ‘dnSpy-net472’ and where to obtain this simple crack, and it works. Posts #36 and #45 for a start. Just be sure to run that crack as an administrator on your computer by right clicking on the exe. and selecting the option. Will not work otherwise. Good luck.

SteveK50, here is a link that will expire in 7 days with a text file with some instructions that might be helpful. Download the text file and read how to use the crack. This is just one method as you will have to use the crack again sometimes if you update and the dll file is altered. Also when filing TT forces you to update the program before sending in your return electronically so get comfortable using the crack, it is rather easy. The entire key to getting the program working is the work ‘false’ from ‘true’. Downloaded per your instructions… printed text… ran dnSpy but original DLL was set to no code/false… tried to compile but 10-15 errors.

Since DLL was as directed… went back to TT and just will not skip registration.

SteveK50. Sorry to hear you had difficulties, it does work as described. Post #95 confirms it. If you haven’t given up sometimes it is best to completely uninstall everything and start from scratch. Yes, dnspy hack for the dll file works. Make sure you save the dll file somewhere before using dnspy. Follow the steps exactly, especially the color of the lines. Sometimes you don’t need to click the arrow to expand the details. It is open already. The line numbers to delete is not correct. Follow the pattern given in the instructions. There is only one line you need to change from true to false. If it did not work, you may not have to delete and reinstall. Just copy the dll file you saved back to the 32bit folder and hack again.

Turbotax updated to R23 about 2 days ago. Dnspy hack for .dll still works.

Seems I have the same problem with the CANADIAN version as others. Do one return and will not print or E file. Tells me I have already reached 20 returns. Have read all the comments on how to fix this but I think they are referring to the US version. I downloaded dsnspy which supposedly can fix the DLL, but I think this is for the US version and not Canadian. Plus, I am not a programmer and wouldn’t be able to figure out how to use it anyway. It was so much easier in previous years but it does not work this year. Thanks for the effort to post the Canadian TurboTax file but it does not work, so I guess it is off to Walmart to purchase it.

TurboTax will update itself and the included modified .dll will not work. When you install TT you will have to update it to the newest update available if you want to file electronically (federal and/or state). You can just print both and mail them. I suggest downloading the newest update from Intuit instead of using the update feature in TT. You may have to modify the .dll a couple of times to be able to process your taxes.

I did it last night for a friend and it worked.

I have detailed step-by-step instructions I can share, but RareFile is not allowing uploads at the moment.

@Landon You will have the same problem with R14 patch because it is not the newest patch. I assume after you installed TTax with R8 update and copied over modified .DLL, TTax then updated itself making the patch useless. You would need to modify the new .DLL with dnSpy.

Here is instructions and dnSpy. I rewrote the original instructions while installing TTax 2020 last night for a friend. Can’t get any simpler.

I appreciate your post. It helped greatly with the dnspy program and output. Folks at TT are getting smarter, just when I went to hit file they came up with we need to have the latest update. Thought I had gotten around it but they insisted. Glad I didn’t wait till the 14th to find this out.
It was nice to have your output to check against and I didn’t need to reinstall TT either. I updated from the file for Premier (w_perrelsuperpatch_ttax_2020.240.0100.exe) on the TT website and then ran dnspy.

@Ted – I think many people have to uninstall TTax and then reinstall it because when the program tries to update and if it fails, the install is borked. That is why it is best to install TTax then the first time it is started up, to shut off automatic updates. Then only do manual updates by downloading file from Intuit.

The following steps worked for me:
1. Install Premier 2020.
2. Update using manual update from TT website (R27).
3. Download and run (Admin) dnSpy following instructions but without deleting anything but changed 2 instances of “true” to “false”.

It works like a charm! Thanks much, geniuses!

DOSGUY,
1. Install ‘TurboTax_Deluxe_2020.exe’. Do not open it yet. Close the window!
2. Install ‘Update R8.exe’ to update it to latest patch. Close the window!
3. Copy ‘Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.dll’ and paste that file here: ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Deluxe 2020\32bit’
Overriding the existing file with this dll file.
4. Open TurboTax 2020 from the existing desktop icon. You might get an update window, go ahead and update.
After the update you will probably get an activation window, close it.

* Unzip ‘dnSpy-net472.zip’ all into a new folder you create and name yourself. Delete after done.

5. Run ‘dnSpy.exe’ from that folder as administrator (right click on it)! (If you don’t, it will not work). A window
or the program will open.
6. In the dnSpy program window, click on File > Open. Navigate to ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Deluxe 2020\32bit’
and highlight ‘Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.dll’ and click Open.
7. The file will open and be highlighted in the left pane. Click on the arrow next to the file name in the left pane
to expand the item. A purple item will show, click on the arrow to expand the menu.
8. Find the yellow item labeled ‘Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.Activation’ and click on it. A green item called
‘ProductActivationService’ will show, click on it.
9. A bunch of orange names will now show. Find the one called ‘IsProductActivationRequired() : bool’ and
right click on it. Click on the option that says ‘Edit Method (C#) …’
10. A window with code will open on the right side. Within the code, delete lines 13-30 so the method only shows.

12. At the bottom of the window, click ‘Compile’ and the window will close.

Works perfect! Tested thru a Win 10 machine on VirtualBox. You just need to follow the instructions very closely.
A couple glitches:
– dnSpy-net472.zip is apparently an old version and name and not readily found on the internet. I did find a copy lurking in the bowels of the internet and used it. I could not determine which of the following is its specific current replacement; got conflicting information:
dnSpy-net-win32.zip / 75.8 MB
dnSpy-net-win64.zip / 81.8 MB
dnSpy-netframework.zip / 22.6 MB
– I ran the initial update (Step 4) on May 7 and apparently TT changed. In step 10, delete instead lines 15 to 38. The code will then appear as shown in the example.
– Not sure about its behavior, but suggest turning off subsequent updates. Those might overwrite the Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.dll file and, consequently, your edits. Or make a backup of the dll file.
