Malik and Zoe don’t see eye to eye when it comes to using a revolutionary procedure involving spider silk to save a boy’s crushed legs versus the safer route of amputation. Elsewhere, James, Walter and Talaikha care for a young woman in desperate need of a liver transplant who, to their surprise, is reluctant to accept a donation from her estranged father.
Season 01, Episode 03 – “You Must Remember This”
James wants to treat a police officer who suffered a brain injury in a car crash and lost all of his memories with a cutting-edge method to recode his brain; at the same time, an obese woman is given an appetite suppression sensor; and Zoe tries to erase security footage of her kiss with Malik.
Season 01, Episode 04 – “Not Your Grandmother’s Robotic Surgery”
Walter disagrees with James over a risky robotic surgery the tech titan wants to use to save his beloved elementary school teacher after she’s diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Meanwhile, a military veteran who was blinded in combat resists Zoe and Talaikha’s efforts to help him.
Season 01, Episode 05 – “Fire and Ice”
James convinces a hockey player with a severe spinal injury to undergo risky surgery to walk again; at the same time, Walter’s wife, FDA executive Julianna Wallace, accepts an invitation to Bunker Hill to consider approving a new skin bio-printing trial.
Season 01, Episode 06 – “Bunker Hill, We Have a Problem”
Walter attempts a remote surgery on someone on the International Space Station who requires an emergency procedure; at the same time, the team use social media to pinpoint the source of an E. coli outbreak in town. In other developments, Scott’s secret past is no longer a secret; and Zoe and Malik’s flirtation turns into something more.
Season 01, Episode 07 – “A Bunker Hill Christmas”
James tries to give a teenage leukemia patient a Christmas miracle and, in the process, is inspired to be a better version of himself. Meanwhile, Zoe agrees to go on a date with Malik, but then James complicates her romantic life by confessing his feelings to her. And elsewhere, Walter and his wife, Julianna, have a hard time reconnecting when she arrives for a holiday visit.
Season 01, Episode 08 – “Around the World in Eight Kidneys”
James and the Bunker Hill surgeons attempt to make medical history with an organ transplant chain of 16 surgeries, with donors and patients from around the world taking part. Meanwhile, Zoe and Malik decide to go on a “real” date.
Season 01, Episode 09 – “Grace”
James attempts a radical anti-viral treatment to help a man ravaged by HIV; and makes a special connection with Louis Keating’s nurse. Meanwhile, Walter must act quick to save his daughter’s best friend after she contracts a fatal flesh-eating bacteria.
Season 01, Episode 10 – “Hero Worship”
A tech guru disappoints James, who connects a cluster of respiratory cases to environmental contamination caused by a microchip factory owned by this man he idolizes. Meanwhile, the reason a young man can’t walk confounds Walter and Taliakha; and Zoe finds herself feeling jealous over the connection James has with Nina.
Season 01, Episode 11 – “Touch and Go”
Radical treatments are used to help a teenage girl with a rare skin blistering disorder heal in time for her prom; and James is tempted to try his experimental cure on Louis Keating as his GSS condition worsens. On a personal front, Malik is bothered by how James and Zoe relate to each other; at the same time, Zoe has an awkward encounter with James’ new crush, Nina.
Season 01, Episode 12 – “I Got This”
A major pop star’s voice and career are threatened by laryngeal cancer, which Talaikha and Malik treat while at the receiving end of the terrified singer’s wrath. Meanwhile, Angie’s mother, worried that she’s ill, reluctantly agrees to see Scott as a patient; and James feels discouraged over Louis Keating’s seemingly worsening condition.
Season 01, Episode 13 – “Lift Me Up”
n the Season 1 finale, Angie wants to treat her mom’s illness with a radical approach, but the patient prefers more traditional methods. Meanwhile, Walter, Malik and Zoe attempt to use suspended animation to stop a graffiti artist’s internal bleeding; and Julianna discovers that James gave the unapproved GSS drug to Louis Keating.
